BAS vs. 1C: What’s the Difference and What to Choose for a Ukrainian Business

If you do business in Ukraine, the question "BAS or 1C" will sooner or later come up. Many entrepreneurs still work in familiar 1C configurations, while others have already switched to BAS. We look at how they differ, the risks of staying on old 1C, and what to choose in 2026.

Why BAS appeared in Ukraine

After 2022, the Russian company 1C left the Ukrainian market, and official support and updates for 1C products in Ukraine ceased. BAS (Business Automation Software) came as a replacement — a line of accounting automation software developed by a Ukrainian company and a network of franchise partners.

Technologically, BAS is built on the same platform that Ukrainian accountants know well, so the interface and operating logic are very similar to 1C. This was done intentionally — so that the transition would be as painless as possible and the accountant would not have to retrain from scratch.

Risks of staying on old 1C

Main differences between BAS and 1C

BAS product line

BAS Accounting

A basic solution for accounting and tax accounting. Suitable for sole proprietors and small enterprises. Analog of "1C:Accounting".

BAS Small Business

A comprehensive solution for small trading and service companies: sales, purchases, warehouse, simple payroll.

BAS Trade Management

For trading companies with extensive warehouse accounting, pricing, work with suppliers and customers.

BAS ERP

A powerful system for medium and large businesses: production, finance, budgeting, management accounting.

Benefits of switching to BAS

  1. Up-to-date updates for legislative changes without delays.
  2. Official technical support from Ukrainian partners.
  3. Familiar interface — the accountant does not have to retrain from scratch.
  4. Ready integrations with software fiscal registrars, banks and electronic document exchange.
  5. Legal compliance during tax audits.

How to switch from 1C to BAS

  1. Audit of the current database. A specialist evaluates your 1C configuration, data volume and customizations.
  2. Choosing the BAS configuration. We select a product for the size and needs of the business.
  3. Data migration. Balances, counterparties, item nomenclature, documents are transferred using special migration tools.
  4. Migration of customizations. If your 1C had individual reports or data processors, they are adapted for BAS.
  5. Staff training. Short training for accountants and cashiers on new nuances.
  6. Parallel operation. For the first month, you can keep accounting in parallel to make sure the data is correct.

How much it costs and whether to hurry

The cost depends on the configuration and amount of data. For a sole proprietor, it is a small amount; for a manufacturing enterprise with BAS ERP, it is a more significant investment. But the main risk of delay is working on outdated 1C without legislative updates, which sooner or later will lead to errors in reporting and problems during audits. The more data accumulates in the old database, the more difficult the future migration will be.

What to consider when choosing a configuration

You should not buy a powerful BAS ERP if you are a sole proprietor with one store — you will overpay for functionality you will not use. And vice versa, BAS Accounting is not enough for a manufacturing enterprise. Focus on real processes:

The configuration can always be expanded later, so it is reasonable to start with a solution for current needs, not "for growth".

How to organize work after the transition

The transition is not only a technical migration, but also a change in the team's habits. Assign a person responsible for accounting, set up access rights for different employees, regularly make database backups and install updates on time. This way BAS will work stably, and your reporting will always be up to date.

Frequently asked questions

Will my data disappear? No, migration tools transfer balances, reference data and documents from 1C to BAS. Do I need to buy new equipment? Usually no — BAS runs on the same computers. How long does the transition take? For small business — a few days, for large — a few weeks with parallel operation.

SIRIUS is a partner for BAS implementation. We will conduct an audit, select a configuration, transfer data from your 1C and train the team. Leave a request — and the transition will take place without stopping your business.
